The Bankstown Food Festival and the great kids at the Multicultural Youth Club

On my last Saturday I went to the Bankstown Food Festival with daughter Naomi. It was my first trip ever to Bankstown. To be honest Bankstown is a place I associate with crime and problems with recently arrived ethnic communities. A little walk around and it soon became obvious that there are lots of community programmes in place to assist immigrants and their families. We learnt how to make Vietnamese Spring Rolls at the Bankstown Multicultural Youth Club tent. The cooking class was fun but I got a lot of satisfaction seeing these great kids participating in volunteer work and seeing them enjoy it.. They came from ethnic groups all over Bankstown. They were really good kids…….
Paella, Mediterranean antipasto dish, skewers and spring rolls from the Philippines then topped off with Dutch pancakes…. Yummmmmmm.
On the way home we stocked up on prepared Vietnamese dishes and cured meats and cheeses from the Olympia Delicatessen…there food was amazing. Not surprise they are listed in the Foodie Guide for Sydney. Go Bankstown!!
