A tour of the Cheongwadae and the handsome SPs in their shiny suits!

This morning I skipped classes and went on the free tour that is offered at the Blue House of the Korean President- Cheongwadae. If there is any form of tension between S. Korea and N. Korea the tours are cancelled so I decided to make the most of the beautiful Autumn and join in. You need to apply to the Cheongwadae 10 days to 6 months in advance- http://english.president.go.kr/tours/cwd_tours/cwd_tours.php
I arrived at the departure place 20 minutes before the tour started as they need to do a thorough check through documents and ID etc. 6 handsome men from the President’s Office ( all wearing shiny suits) looked after us….sorry, I didn’t notice the women guides as the men were ALL so handsome!! I was surprised to see so many Japanese on the tour. We departed and after arrival went through stricter security checks than at the airport. We were then shown a video regarding the history of the Cheongwadae and the daily workings of the Presidential Office. Then we left for our tour, the garden was gigantic, it was quite and amazingly beautiful. We were only allowed to take photos in certain spots and if we took photos of footpaths or gates the handsome guys in their shiny suits came running to tell us to put our cameras away. The Japanese on the tour who do not think twice about their peaceful existence just didn’t understand and constantly complained. We must not forget that Korea is still technically at war!! The tour was free, the guides were very kind and friendly and on top of all that we were all given free mug cups! It was such a nice day, beautiful weather and beautiful garden; I would highly recommend it to anyone. I guess the only gripe I have about the day was the noisy Korean school students….wish they had gone on another tour but I should not complain.
