This is big news in Japan. SADLY the crime she committed is being made a big deal because she is a South Korean national. If you read the article you may be lead to believe that she was born and brought up in Korea. Not so, she is probably a second generation ethnic Korean who has lead a life of poverty in Japan. There are terribly cruel xenophobic hate blogs on the net regarding this woman.

In the past, if a Korean ( despite the fact they were born and brought up here) committed a crime, their nationality always became an issue when reported. With more consideration for human rights, this seemed to have stopped. However, now Japan is regressing and the rights of foreigners are just about non-existent.  Sadly the comments on the net regard her nationality and not the crime. Shouldn’t Japanese society be more concerned that a 73 year needs to resort to prostitution so she can survive? Unfortunately in xenophobic nationalist Japan, that is not to be so.
