働く者にとって日本の企業は魅力ない？ Have Japan’s companies lost their appeal to Japanese workers?

最近　ブログの更新が減っているため　色々な方が心配してくれます。　元気です！しかし　最近外出が少ないため　ブログのネタが少ないです。
少し嬉しいことです・・・・　次女が　一週間前に　ブル-ムバーグ社で働き始めました・・・・覚えることも多くて大変らしいけど面白いそうです。次女は　シドニー大学卒業後　ソウルの延世大学で修士を取得してから慶応大学で二つ目の修士を取得しました。そしてブル-ムバーグに入社してみたら新卒ではなく　新入社員は殆ど　中途採用だそうです。勿論日本の一流大学卒ですが　銀行、商社の経歴を持っている方が多いそうです。中に　元外交官もいらしゃるそうです。それだけ　日本の企業に魅力がないでしょうね？

I have been lazy in updating my blog, but to be honest, with all of the snow and staying at home a lot I haven’t had a lot to write about.
Our daughter is now officially employed. She started work a week ago, I hear there is a lot to learn at Bloomberg but she is enjoying her work. She has two Masters and I would have expected that other new recruits too would have come directly from university. Not so….. ost of the new recruits have worked in finance, banks and Japan’s big trading companies, there is even an ex diplomat among the ranks. That must mean that there is no appeal in Japanese companies anymore????

イビキ Snoring

山陰の悪天候が続く・・・・毎朝、外を見るとぞっとする。昨晩は又　雪が降った！大嫌い！鳥取の生活は　２８年になりますが　この雪だけは好きになれません。
そして　新しい　悩みがあります。　２年前から　首を悪くして　時々　イビキをするようになったそうです。３１年　主人のイビキと　お付き合いをして来たため　主人が文句を　言わない・・・・「好きな女のイビキは我慢出来る」とのこと・・・・しかし　この前　寝れなかったそうです。　悪いと思って　昨晩　イビキような　スプレーを　使ってみました。今朝　起きてみたら　「昨夜は　静かに寝ていた」と　言ってくれました・・・・・・・良かった！！

I have lived in Tottori for 28 years and I still hate the snow. In fact this year we have had so much snow it has got to the stage where I don’t want to look outside! Enough is enough!! Please!!!
On top of the snow I now have a new worry….. since I have been having neck problems I snore sometimes. The other night when JM badly needed some sleep I snored. Poor darling but he said “ if you love someone you can put up with their snoring”. So last night I used some “snoring relief spray” and it looks like it helped….JM said I didn’t snore, in fact it was him!!!

感動する賛美歌 A favourite hymn- Ancient Words

最近、息子が　私の大好きな賛美歌を　歌ったりしています。全寮制の　カトリックの男子校に住みながら　たくさんの賛美歌を覚えました。ひょっとして　懐かしくなったかしら？　在学中に度々家族ミサに参加した　私達は　９５０人の男子生徒の　力ある声に感動しました。　信仰の大切さを考えます。　好きな　賛美歌を紹介します・・・・・

Lately my son has been singing some of my favourite hymns, without a doubt they were drummed into him when he was at St Joseph’s college. Maybe he is missing his old school? I recall with fond memories the strong voices of 950 young men at family masses. Here is one of my favourites- Ancient Words

大雪とちらし寿司 Heavy snow and chirashi sushi

外は大雪・・・・ウンザリ！どこかに逃げたい！　　買い物に行けない・・・・そこで
ダーリンの好物→私のお手製のちらし寿司を　有るもので作りました。結構美味しそうに出来た。折角だから　独身幹部社員にも作ってあげた・・・・この前　あげた時　大事なタッパ返してくれなかったので　今日は使い捨ての容器で・・・・・

I can’t go out shopping so what to do for lunch? JM loves my “chirashi sushi” so have hunted around in the fridge and it looks pretty good. Some lucky executive employees are getting some too…..this time they will be the recipient of throw away containers as last time they didn’t return my expensive Tupperware. You know who you are!

タイガーマスク運動、素敵！！Anonymous donations to orphanages all around Japan.

天候のため　家に居ることが増えました。　普段見ないテレビも　見ています。最近
一番　嬉しいことは　タイガーマスク運動です！全国に広がり やっと　
見逃された　選挙権のない　子供たちが　スポットライトを浴びています。この運動はをきっかけに　社会が明るくなるように　願っています。今では　駄目だから・・・・
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。With this bad weather I have been staying at home and surprisingly watching more TV. The best news we have had in a long time are the reports of anonymous donations by cartoon heroes to children in orphanages. Lets not forget that these children do not have the vote and society would rather pretend the didn’t exist. Well they do! Maybe this national movement with be a catalyst and help to change the overall mood across Japan? Public sentiment is so low here it does need some help or pleasant diversions like this.

最近は　家族６人集合で忙しすぎて　ブログの更新のネタがなくて悩んでいました。　昨日、子供たちが　旅行に　出発しました。今まで　煩過ぎた家が　静か過ぎて・・・・寂しい！そして　又、又　雪が降った。ウンザリ！今回の雪は今日まで　だそうです・・・
シドニー大学院の　発表を待っているところ→　発表の日が未定（１月中旬？）で　諦めモードになりずつ・・・・
雪でウンザリしていることを書いたら　一揆に晴れた！！やった！！

We have had a full house for the last month and I have been too busy to attend to the blog….sorry. Yesterday our kids took off on a trip and now our over noisy house is over quiet ….. Quite unbearable too. On top of having to put up with missing the kids it has snowed AGAIN!! Makes you sick. I think it is only going to last until today.
And….on top of the kids going, and the snow I am still waiting to get an offer from Sydney University. I have no idea what day they issue their offers and seem to be losing my confidence day by day as I wait….
Just after complaining about the snow it has stopped and the sun is out! Yeah!

野田聖子の高齢出産に問題がある Having a child at 50 is just plain wrong….Seiko Noda

議員の　野田聖子の　事実婚男性と５０歳の出産・・・・
女性として　子供を育てたいと言う気持ちが　よく分かります。では　５０歳で　無事子供を生んだからと　褒めてあげたい気持ちに　なりません。５０歳で国会議員をしながら　満足な育児が出来ると　思いません。子供が　２０歳になったとき　母親は７０歳？お母さん（お婆さん？）がその時元気なら　良いです。　野田聖子が　子供が欲しくて　５０歳で　生むことが出来ても　生まれて来た子供の気持ちを　考えたことがあるかしら？？？
関心しません・・・・

Of course most women want to have children. In Noda’s case she may have beaten the odds with a successful birth at 50 but what is she trying to prove? I don’t think she understands how difficult it is to be a working mother with a new baby, particularly when you are 50. When the child is 20 she will be 70! I guess it will be “nice” for the child if she is in good health. I wonder how many people have really considered what it will be like for the child to have such an OLD mother??

私の誕生日＠笹すし My birthday party at Sasa sushi

４日は　家族揃って　笹すし(http://www.hal.ne.jp/sasasusi/)で　私の誕生日を　祝ってくれました。　待ちに待った　寿司！！笹すしで　懐かしい、　お世話になった　弁護士と奥様・・・・　「折角　久しぶりに　会ったから　一緒に写真撮りましょう」と８人で　撮りました。今度は　長男の　小学校６年生の担任と　奥様に　ばったり　会って　又　一緒に写真を　撮りました。嬉しい　出会いと　ご馳走・・・幸せ！！女将さん！ケーキと　プレゼントありがとうございます。
働き者で　可愛らしい　若女将さんが　来てくれて　良かったですね。今年が　良い年になりますよ！！

We have all been off to Sasa sushi (http://www.hal.ne.jp/sasasusi/)for my birthday. I was so looking forward to sushi! We bumped into some old friends we haven’t seen for a while, our lawyer and his lovely wife and son’s 6th grade teacher and his lovely wife too, We took photos, it was like a big reunion. What else can you ask for? Old friends and great food? Happiness…….
Mieko san! Thank you for the cake and your kind gift. You seem very happy with your new “daughter”, it looks like it will be a great year for you!

ニュースで　鳥取県の　大雪による車１０００台の立ち往生の　事故のことでした。　鳥取は　どうしてこんな格好悪いことだけ　ニュースになるの？？？しかし　これで　鳥取県は　世界から　注目をされたわけです→

Relatives in Oz have been contacting me. On ABC news they saw the 1000 car jam in Yonago, Tottori. How come Tottori always gets in the news for clumsy stuff like this? Oh well…… at least we have been noticed on the world stage!
