学期末の祝賀会！An end of semester celebration.

又Blancharuに行ってきました。今回はかなり　日本食に近い食事でした・・・美味しかった。早く日本に帰り、ダーリンに会い、日本食を食べて、ゆっくりとお風呂につかりたい！シャワーだけで疲れた・・・後、数日！その前に論文、論文！！

The end of my first semester. Thanks kids for being so thoughtful and helpful! We went out to celebrate at Blancharu. This time the dishes were quite Japanese. Yummmmm. I can’t wait to go home to see JM, eat Japanese food and relax in a Japanese bath…..I am fed up with only showers! Not long now. But before I go, work on my thesis awaits…..

日本の知人ででニックネームが「エロ」と言う方が居ます。彼はオーストラリアでプールの整備会社を経営しているのを知らなかった・・・冗談！！！

学期の最終日Last day for the semester!

今朝、早くから大雨・・・冬の雨はうっとうしい・・・・
ダーリンが早朝便で帰りました。来てくれてありがとう・・・・今日は私の学期の最終日・・・最後の授業に出て、試験変わりのエッセイを出して、お休みに入ります・・・自分が言うのも何ですが　よく頑張りました！昨夜は　成績の夢を見ましたけど・・・どっき！
お休みの間は論文の研究が続きます・・・・・

Heavy winter rain this morning….yuck.
JM went home on an early flight, thanks for coming. Today is my last lecture for the semester. I hand in my last assignment and then I am on holidays…. I would like to give myself a pat on the back for all of my hard work. Last night I did have a dream about my grades though….Now, during the holidays I will be working on my dissertation.

バス登校でお昼はベンチで・・Riding Sydney buses and a picnic lunch at uni.

昨日、カメラを忘れずに　登校しました。バス通学で 今日 特別な出来事がなかったです・・・・先週、後部席に座ったお客さんが　いきなり　ゲボを吐いた・・・二回！後部席で下がり道で・・想像して下さい・・・乗客が全員おりました。
と言うことで無事に到着をして　午後の授業までは一日　図書館で研究・・・お昼は大学の売店でベトナム風な　ポークロールを買って　勉強しながらベンチでコーヒを飲みながら　食べた。食堂と言ったようなところが少なくて　お昼は日光浴をしながら　外で食べます・・・オーストラリアの一番　古い大学で　素敵でしょう？

Yesterday I remembered to take my camera to uni. I even took a picture inside the bus, it was a pleasant trip because last time someone sitting in the back seats threw up….TWICE. Imagine the delight of everyone as we going down a slope and the “vomiter” was up the back? Lovely…… everyone got off. I spent the day in the library doing my research until class in the afternoon. Bought a Vietnamese pork roll and a coffee for lunch and sat down on a bench under the winter sun…….Sydney Uni is Australia’s oldest university and I just love the sandstone buildings….

日本で言えば　Group onみたいな　安い売りの食事セットを　オーストラリアでも購入出来ます。初めて挑戦してみました。インタネットで購入して、長女と一緒に５５％引きのイタリア料理を食べて来ました。美味しかったですね・・・

Just went out for Italian food. We bought a meal deal on the internet with a 55% discount….. it was such good value for such great food. Can’t wait to try something else.

昨日、担当の教授に論文の最終概要を提出しました。３か月掛けて　大量の書籍を読み、大量のノートを書き、理論方法論に苦しみ・・・やっと今日まで来たと言う感じです。博士論文を書く人を本当に心から尊敬出来ます！！教授が概要を褒めて下さり（あまり　褒めて下さるので少し不安ですが・・・）今日から（やっと）論文の本文書きに入ります。　提出の１１月までは休みなく頑張ります！

Yesterday I handed in my final outline for my thesis. 3 months- lots of reading, lots of writing and struggling with theory and methodology .My supervisor praised me for the content and now I can finally start writing. Wow…I really admire people who have written a PhD thesis.

女性ディアスポラの苦労を考える。Diaspora women and discrimination.

バージ・　オン・　ザ・　ビーチ　と言う映画を　見ました。イギリスに住むインド人ディアスポラ（離散して他国に住む民族）の女性の話。ふっと思うと　ディアスポラ　の女性は移民国では　差別を受け、そして古いしきたりを無理に守ろうとする自国のコミュニティーからも性差別も受ける・・・自由なオーストラリア社会でも各ディアスポラで見られる現象・・・可哀そう・・・・・

Just saw Bahji on the Beach- a fascinating story about Indian diaspora women in the UK. When you think about it, women are forced into representing their own home country culture while they suffer discrimination in their new country and sexual discrimination from their own diaspora community. You see it happen here in egalitarian Australia and you can’t help it feel sorry for them.

馬鹿か天才？風邪と方法論。An idiot or a genius? A cold and methodology.

シドニーが寒いよ！一揆に冬になりました。
日本では馬鹿は風邪を引かないそうです。今まで　風邪を引かない私は馬鹿でした。しかしシドニーに来て二回目の風邪を引き、こじらせ天才に変身したかしら？　それとも　シドニー大学は天才の集まりだから　風邪の菌が溜まっている？
10日掛かりました。昨日、担当の教授に論文の方法論の概要を送りました。　ここが問題です！教授が　了解して下さいましたけど　私は未だ　よく分らない！！

Winter has arrived and Sydney is cold! Yuck.
In Japan there is a saying that says that fools don’t catch colds. That means I have been a fool and I was proud of the fact I never caught colds. But since arriving in Sydney I have been really sick twice, so does that make me a genius. OK. I get it, because Sydney Uni is for smart people cold bugs flow freely around the campus?
It took 10 days but I finally completed an outline for my methodology. I sent it off to my supervisor and he said it looks good but the truth of the matter is …..I still don’t get it!

友人の訪問とＢｌａｎｃｈａｒｕ. A visit from a friend and Blancharu

大親友の写真家をされているアレンさんが画廊探しにメルボーンから訪ねて来ました。土曜日は一日中運転手をして、懐かしい長話に花が咲いていました。日本人シェフのフランス料理屋でお昼を食べました。Ｂｌａｎｃｈａｒｕと言い、今度は二回目でしたがあまり美味しくて又びっくりしました。

On Saturday my good friend photographer Alan visited to look for galleries in Sydney.
Wow! Lots of talking and lots of fun. Thank you so much for lunch Alan! We dined at Blancharu- a French-Japanese fusion restaurant. It was my second visit but I was amazed at how good the food was……

嬉しい母の日でした。 A very happy Mother’s Day

今日は母の日でした。何年ぶりに子供達と一緒に過ごし、嬉しかったです。
近くのお気に入りのカフェで子供達にご馳走になりました。帰りは近くのショッピングセンターに寄りマリナーを沿って歩いて帰りました・・・・

Today was Mother’s Day. I haven’t spent Mother’s Day with my children for years but they made it worthwhile. They took me to lunch at our favourite café Copo in Drummoyne, then we walked past the lovely marina at Birkenhead on our way home…………bliss!!
