The history of the ‘comfort women’ is not (as some commentators in both countries wish to portray it) an issue of ‘Japanese-versus-Koreans’. It is an issue of human rights and human dignity whose implications extend throughout East Asia and beyond.

Totally agree! Please join in campaigning to abolish war as an institution and, toward that end (among other things), ask Germany to apologize for its “total war” ideology that made belligerents in the two world wars commit terrible atrocities. If Germany could face its past totally (not just partly, as it has done) this could be a wakeup call for all nations to come to terms with their past and bring about an “international peace based on justice and order.” (Article 9, JC)
